Add-ons are extremely helpful in-game. While some games have banned add-ons (or mods), others openly embrace the modder community. Elder Scrolls Online is one such game.
In ESO, installing and using addons is completely legal and allowed. Adding them to the game is very easy, as you will see below.
Be sure to check out our Elder Scrolls Online starter guide while you are here.
Step 1: Download Add-ons
There are lots of sites dedicated to add-ons. Some sites are dedicated by game and others cover a multitude of games. There are some programs out there that can control the add-ons for you (such as the Curse client). You can download it from ESOUI.
Step 2: Extract or Unzip Add-ons
Add-ons come delivered in a zipped file. In order to use them, you will need to unzip them. Windows has a built-in extraction program as long as the file is a .zip. If the folder is saved as a .rar file, you will need to download another program on Windows 7 and earlier. Windows 8 can unzip .rar files.
Files need to be placed in the ESO Add-ons directory that can be found in Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/AddOns on your computer. The easiest way to do this is to right-click the file and click extract files.
A new window will pop up that will ask for specifics. Be sure to put the path to the directory in the extract to or location box. Click the dots or browse button to the right to easily find the directory.
Step 3: Activate Add-Ons
The files are easy to activate once you launch the game. In the character screen, there is a menu to the left side. One of the options is Add-Ons. Click on it and you can decide which add-ons to allow.
ESO also allows you to customize which add-ons you use based on character. This option is only available from the character screen. The in-game menu only allows you to turn add-ons off and on based on character logged in.
Step 4: Change Settings (Optional)
The last thing you can do is in-game and that is to change your settings. Placement of add-ons may not be to your liking so they are movable as well as scalable. 1 stick vs 1000 marines. Some mods also allow you to choose which stuff to show. Using the menu that comes up when you hit the escape key, you can find all add-on settings here.
Some can be moved without loading up these menus. Others you will have to unlock using these menus. Here's a look at how settings look:
Resident evil 6 wiki. Jan 25, 2017 The Lucas Password – Resident Evil 7 On your way through Resident Evil 7, you’ll have to explore a Testing Area that Lucas Baker seems to have claimed as his own. Unfortunately for us, that.
Sometimes you may need to temporarily turn off a mod. For example, in Cyrodiil, you can not use the fast transit system while the ZrMiniMap is running. Instead of logging that character out and back in just to disable it, ESO has made it easy by showing the add-ons in-game.
ESO mods are not very intrusive. Some can be very simple as you can see in this view of my screen:
If you don't feel comfortable extracting directly to the folder on your pc, another common way of doing this is to drag and drop the files into the folder after extracting them. Be sure to check out all our Guides and Tips.
AddOns are user interface modifications and enhancements for Elder Scrolls Online. These AddOns can simplify mundane tasks, improve navigation and enhance your combat abilities.
How to Install ESO AddOns[edit]
The simplest method for installing ESO AddOns is using Minion, a free AddOn management program. Minion streamlines the installation process for AddOns, and makes searching for new AddOns easy.
Note that Minion and AddOns are mod content, and thus their use can potentially alter your ESO files in unforeseen ways. Use at your own risk.
Once Minion is installed and open, you'll be able to sort through a variety of quality AddOn mods. Select the one you want by clicking, then press the Install button in the top-right corner.
After an AddOn is installed through Minion, close Minion and launch ESO. By pressing Escape you'll gain access to your AddOns menu, where you can simply check or uncheck AddOns to enable or disable them. Pressing the restart UI button in this window refreshes your Interface, adding and removing AddOns according to your selections.
It is unwise to run Minion and ESO simultaneously. Always fully close one program before opening the other.
Useful AddOns[edit]
There are several useful AddOns already available for ESO, with a number of potentially helpful Mods in various stages of development.
Foundry Tactical Combat[edit]
An immensely helpful mod that streamlines the Health, Magic, and Stamina bars, adds pop-up warnings for combat events, and reports of buff/debuff cool down.
Ftc-new-frames.jpg
You can see attack types, exactly how much damage attacks are doing, and have constant access to XP status and moveable HUD features. Absolutely essential.
WarLegend HUD[edit]
Similar to Foundry, WarLegend improves the tactical analysis options at your disposal. While it's features aren't quite as slick as Foundry, you may want to try it out for comparison's sake.
ZrMiniMap[edit]
Adds a small map to the corner of your display, greatly enhancing your navigation. You can discern your route and relative location at a glance.
The first time you run ZrMiniMap, you may get an error and have to restart it a couple of times, but don't fret. After this, it works just fine.
Inventory Grid View[edit]
IGV allows you to toggle between the game's standard Inventory view and a compact grid view allowing you to see many more items on screen at one time
.
The compressed perspective is extremely helpful for sorting, and the toggle guarantees you don't lose any functionality.
Research Assistant[edit]
Research Assistant is a nifty little Crafting AddOn that can save you a lot of headaches.
All ESO Weapons and Armor have certain unique Traits. To learn to craft a certain Trait for a particular Weapon type (sword, staff, etc) a character must carry a version of that particular Weapon employing that particular Trait for some length of time, researching it. It's easy to lose track of what Trait/Weapon combinations you have and haven't learned. Research Assistant solves this by adding an icon next to every Weapon and Armor in your inventory. Green means you've learned everything you can from it and may freely sell, discard, or re-purpose it. Red means hold on, there's still more research to do.
X4D LibAntiSpam[edit]
The ESO chat is plagued by spammers offering to sell gold. X4D LibAntiSpam is designed to tackle this pervasive problem and block the spam.
